It really is silly how life goes. We’re only young for a little and then we’re suddenly old with all of this responsibility. How is that fair? I think it's absurd, how are we supposed to adapt that quickly, why is the world so needy? This is basically just my excuse for being so lazy all of the time, maybe i really should get it together.
Now that i think of it, i remember a time during sophomore year when life wasn't to hard and everything was fun. It was around the end of summer break and school was starting soon, we only had about 3 weeks left of freedom. Me and a couple of friends from school were going to try to make the best of our last days of freedom. “alright who’s first” said jonathan looking into the sewage tunnel that we were about to explore. Me and jonathan had been friends since the second grade, so we knew quite a lot about each other, for example i knew that he was afraid of the dark and bats so he was going to make anybody that he could go in front of him.
There were four of us, Jonathan, Anthony, Steven, and last but not least me Patrick. Anthony and Steven were twins from cuba. They both had short brown hair and blue eyes, also they were both skinny as hell but strong as an ox, you would never know that they both benchpress above their body weight by how they looked. Jonathan had short blonde hair styled into a bun on his head. He got the atomic roast from all of us all of the time for it. He was also a big jokester but you’d be surprised by how serious he could get in certain situations. These were all my friends for a long time even after high school.
After we explored as much of the sewer as we dared (not much) we decided to see what other things we could get into. Anthony and Steven had a really nice house but there was one thing that kept us from ever hanging out there, their crazy parents. His dad had been an infantryman in some war  and his mom a veterinarian. I don't know how being an animal doctor can drive you mad but i guess his dad saw some things in the war. I actually heard a rumor that anthony and steven had a friend over once, and their dad tried to shoot the poor kid with a composite bow. Either way we were going to take a risk and see what's going on in the robinson household ( robinson being their last name.)
“Where are we going now?” said anthony in a curious tone. “We’re just gonna take a walk for a bit and decide what's next for us” jonathan replied quickly. I quietly chuckled because i already knew what was next, we had been talking about it all summer. We had the idea that it would be exciting and thrilling for some reason, guess we were wrong. As we walked up their block the twins caught on. “ we can't go to my house” said steven. “steven if we always listened to you we would be sitting around twiddling our thumbs” jonathan said defiantly. “no our parents would be pissed if you guys came over” snapped anthony. “come on guys we promise to not make your parents mad.” i was trying to sound sincere as possible. “guys it's not a good idea” said anthony quietly. He knew he wouldn't win the argument so he just gave up. On our way to their house neither of them said another word, they were completely silent.
When we got to their house they unlocked the back door knowing that we weren't backing down fro. The challenge. We tried to enter as quiet as possible, as soon as we entered we heard footsteps upstairs. “you guys are done for if they hear you so be quiet” steven whispered. We just kind of sat and talked about various things for a while until we heard the basement door open, and then slow footsteps on their way downstairs. We all sprinted to the door but jon had an idea. “behind the couch” he whispered. They had so much trash and clutter in their basement there was no way they'd find us. We couldn't see anything but we could hear the sound of heavy boots hitting the floor. Anthony and steven stayed on the couch when their father finally arrived. “ i didn't know you boys were already home” said a deep country voice. “we got home early sir” said anthony nervously. “Well come upstairs and say hello to your mother, while you're at it you can help with dinner.” “yes sir” the twins said in unison. Everyone went upstairs and it was me and jon’s chance. We dashed out from behind the couch and into a pile of bicycle parts. “$#!t” said jonathan as we escaped through the door.
On our walk home me and jonathan laughed about everything that had happened. After walking for a while jonathan decided to go home, and i was left to walk alone. On my way home i felt a little uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen again, but i ignored the feeling. As i arrived at my house i turned around as i opened the garage door, just to check my surrounding, but… In the tree in our front yard a single arrow was stuck.
