It's hard to be a saint in a sinner's body

Beauty, something that every person strives for. What is beauty? Is beauty, being size 00 in pants? Is beauty having the latest clothes? Is beauty having the high cheekbones that people will kill over? One of Plato’s famous quotes, is “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” This means that everyone’s idea of beauty are different. While some see beauty as being stick-thin, with long luscious hair, others see beauty as someone who is thick, with short hair. There is not an official definition to beauty.
I had a friend named Arianna. In my eyes, she was one of the most gorgeous girls I have ever seen. She had an evened out body, with curves in the right places. She had long jet-black hair, with fierce, dark-brown eyes. She was Hispanic with the perfect skin tone and a mouth that would put you in your place.. Her movements/actions were graceful and flawless, and i was envious of her, because she herself was perfect.
During the day, she was perfect and confident, but at night she was an insecure girl hiding behind her flaws. I attended a support group at my church, it was for people struggling with personal problems. One day, we were sat in a circle sharing our problems when lo and behold Arianna walks in with grace and poise.
I pondered about why she was even here, she was perfect, she has no need to be here. She sat down in the spot next to me. Her eyes were deep and mysterious, as if containing all the world’s secrets. She sighed, and started her story. She told us about how she starves herself every day, because she sees herself as fat and hideous. She lifted up the dangling bands on her wrist to show the little pink scars. She told us about how she just wants to be loved, and how she believes she cannot find someone to love her because she’s too fat and hideous.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. Here she was, the girl that I envy showing us her vulnerable side. It proves to show that there are different perspectives on beauty. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.
