Prison Break
Prison Break
Written By:Layne Galloway
Bryson Johnson ran, ran harder and faster than he ever ran in his life. The sound of barking German Shepherds running behind him, the sound of yelling prisoners and loud sirens coming from the prison covered the area within a 100 yard radius. Bryson continued to run when one of the prisoners punched him the face, leaving him on the ground. Being stepped on by multiple people he panicked and attempted to stand up, but this simple task was impossible. Getting beaten by the feet of his prison mates, he hears gunshots but isn’t aware where it is. People began screaming as more gun shots. People began to move away from him as this allowed him a perfect opportunity to stand up. But that would be the last thing he would do if he did that.
Being a survivalist he is, he stays low and tries to avoid the gunshots. More people were screaming, more dogs barking, the sirens seemed to be the loudest its ever been. Bryson stays low and thinks about ways he could escape, he glances at every direction he could but all he saw was a sea of orange jumpsuits and fear. He then saw a door that looks like a way out but wasn’t certain. He thought it would be worth going to since the other option. Like a cheetah, he sprinted towards the door dodging bullets as if they were in slow motion. He successfully made it to the door which led to an empty hallway, he sprinted down it until he saw a door that was the exit and he simply ran through it and escaped at ease.
Obviously being an escaped prisoner was bad news, especially when you're in a place like Atlanta, Georgia and the year being 1996. He ran and ended up near the highway where he saw moving cars, immediately he turned the other direction and ran some more. Luckily, the prison was near some woods so he could hide out but that wouldn’t be so smart. First priority was to get rid of the orange clothes and get somewhere safe. He began to take off the jumpsuit when he heard footsteps. He very loudly hid behind a tree to see what it was. He waited and waited when they appeared. The chances of ever seeing those people again were slim but it happened. It was his old cellmates Daniel Smith, Andrew Godfrey, and Sam Wright. They notice Bryson and acknowledge him being there. They camp out there for the night and tell story of their escape, Daniel had to strangle a guard and climb barbed wire fence he then showed us where he was cut, Andrew was the main reason why the riot started and as if a miracle happened he escaped, and Sam was shot in his hand during the riot and went out the same way Bryson did. They continue to stay up watching if the police were near.
The next day happens and they leave their site and find more shelter. Andrew knew a friend of his they could stay with as long as they don’t cause too much attention. With no other choice they go to Andrew’s friends house and stayed there. His name was Nathan Moore and he was one of the nicest people you would ever meet but isn’t afraid to break the law. He didn’t have enough beds for all 4 of them so 1 had the guest bedroom and the others a pallet on the floor. Looking through the house Bryson tries to open one closet and isn’t triumphant. Curiously, he asks what's in the closet but Nathan wouldn’t respond.
After a day went by Landon started to go a little paranoid and wonder how long they can hide. Daniel told him maybe he just needs to go outside and do something but not draw too much attention to themselves. THey leave the house clean with new shoes and new clothes and drive to town. They have a good time they go out to eat, watch a movie and went shopping, but Landon still was still paranoid. He saw newspaper articles of the prison riot and who all died or escaped the prison. Bryson told him to calm down but Landon was still freaking out when he saw the police officers. He couldn’t take it no more, he ran towards the cop and tackled him to the ground. The other police officers got Landon and put him in handcuffs. They recognize him and they look towards Bryson, Andrew and Daniel and start chasing them.
They get in the car with Bryson driving the car speed through the traffic with police officers driving behind him. Sirens come from the car and they gradually get behind them, Bryson serves down all the busy streets surprisingly not hitting a single car or pedestrian. They drive for a long time until they hit a wall. Bryson kicked the door open and so did Daniel but Andrew was unconscious from the hit. They thought about getting him but left him behind. The cops begin chasing them on foot. Daniel ran faster than an olympic sprinter and Bryson barely keep up. Bryson stopped at Nathan's house as the cops were standing outside. Bryson yelled for Nathan but he didn’t hear nothing. He ran upstairs when all of a sudden he was shot i the leg.
In pain he covers his bullet wound as he’s in the floor. He cries in pain as he hears footsteps near him. He looks up and shockingly sees Nathan with a pistol and a police uniform. Bryson then glances over to the closet from earlier and sees it full of criminal records. “Sir you are under arrest for escaping prison and assaulting an officer, expect to see prison for a long time mister.”
