Life in Mexico
Have you ever looked outside a window and thought life is good, I have a comfortable life here? It might be the same old, small town Bremen but my life is good. Have you ever thought what its like for other people in other countries who maybe don’t have it as good as you? Or Have you just thought how do other people live? Well you are about to find out and picture what it could be like in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. Mexico is Beautiful but ugly, the beautiful side are the families, the parties, the dancing, the plaza and just the whole city. People probably know the beautiful side about Leon Guanajuato because its a part of Mexico and when you think of Mexico you probably think of going there for vacation and going to the beach and nice hotels but they should also know the ugly side to, its not pretty but its reality.
In Mexico its very common for kids not to go to school. In Leon there was a boy Anthony, who had to drop out in the 6th grade because he wanted to work for his uncle. Now to us that doesn’t sound like much of a good childhood and your right its not a good childhood but its reality in Leon and reality for Mexico in general. Theres also a catch, in Mexico you do not have to go to school, so even if you can afford to go you don’t have to, maybe you do if your parents are making you but the government isn’t forcing you to. There are many kids in Mexico who wish they could go to school but they can’t because their parents don’t have enough money to send them to school. Anthony now says he wishes he didn’t quit school and maybe would have had a chance to get an education.
When Anthony grew up and became an young adult he got married to his first wife Carmen. They had two kids, Jose and Richy. When Jose was little and Richy was just a baby Carmen and Anthony split up. During that time Anthony got a girlfriend named Patty. Patty ended up pregnant, for some reason Anthony and Carmen were going to get back together even though Patty was pregnant but they didn’t get back together because Carmen wanted to beat up Patty, and Anthony didn’t think that was right so Carmen and Anthony got a divorce. Anthony wanted a better life so he could take care of his kids. Anthony went to California and he was going to send patty money so they could be together and raise their baby boy.
Plans changed for Anthony, he went to Indiana and Patty never came to the United States. Anthony found a new girl named Sue, not long after they started dating Sue got pregnant. After they had there baby girl, Alora they got married, but for a very long time their marriage was dysfunctional, Sue said,”it took years for them to live together without fighting, cheating, and lying. We just had to learn to grow up and shut our mouths.” In December Anthony and Sue will be celebrating their 16 anniversary. They also have 2 other little girls, Emma and Maddy. Alora is 15, Maddy is 10 and Emma is 8.
Anthony does feels bad though, he was never really in his son’s life and never supported them. Anthony just had to pay child support but he didn’t even do that. Anthony was a good father to his daughters but not his son’s. I hope Anthonys sons are understanding and don’t hold a grudge against their father or sisters. Alora does want a relationship with them, she is close to her oldest brother Jose but not to her other brothers. Patty does not want her son to have a relationship with his fathers side of the family. Richy doesn’t really want a relationship with his sisters, well thats what Alora thinks anyway. Hopefully things can change for this family and the people in Mexico.
