Waves
Watching the waves pass by while he sat next to me and the other bare foot in the cool water. I couldn’t find the words to say because my lips wouldn’t allow it. Then he spoke, “ I don’t know how to do this. I’ve never done anything like this before.”
I asked, “ What are you trying to do?”
“ I’m not trying to do anything.”
“ Yes you are and what is it?”
“ I don’t know how I can do this without hurting someone I care about.”
“ Then don’t try. Just do the thing you’re trying to do cause I know you’re trying to do something. Tell me what it is.” Then she yelled out to us that it was time. Ten minutes left and we were leaving the most beautiful place in the world.
He jumped about six feet into the semi-wet sand. I waited, not knowing to jump or fly, so I stood up and I flew. Wind brushing my hair up into the clouds and my feet catching the sand as I took my landing right next to him. He took my hand and pulled me up off my knees. I felt alive for the first time in years. I don’t know why, but though he left, I can’t get him out of my mind. I love him!
