My Wish
If I asked you to grant me one single wish, would you smile with your eyes or just get up and leave? Granted I am fickle and childish when I wish. But all I ask this time is please, play me the record, the one called silence; please. Silence is peace on earth when the day is done. It is freedom from thoughts and warmth in the freezing noise. It is a wish, dear to my heart, and a curse I don’t wish upon a single soul. It is my nightmare when the moon stops by for tea and my sweet daydreams when the sun bakes my skin. It’s the lie I see in their eyes when my questions are too prying, and they decide just to leave me hanging. Yes silence can be a blessing of happiness, but at most times, it leaves me in a cloud of loneliness. Silence is my beautiful dream and my horrendous nightmare. I want a taste, I wish for one. Grant me this and I’ll leave at once.
