The Fight Begins
“Run, Run!” I yell to my comrades as we get rapidly hit by mortars. “McKinley! Watch out!” I yell as a sniper kills another soldier placed under my command.
Let us go back a couple of weeks.
I was on my way to Iraq to join in on the fighting. This was my fourth deployment total, but only my first to Iraq. As I was saying, I was in my helicopter when a short wave message came for me; I was being reassigned to this place…
Little did I know this was not going to be a normal retrieval. When I landed we automatically got hit with a spray of gunfire…..the Russians had arrived.
