Inevitable darkness
when I was young, the world seemed a lot happier. we would have neighborhood BBQ parties in our little culdesac and everything seemed safe. I was only a little kid, so maybe that had something to do with it. Because now I look out on the world and see things completely differently than I did when I was a kid. Now I see the grime underneath the facades. I see what's really going on, and it is NOT safe. Or is that the way I choose to see it. Now that I know more. Does that somehow make it easier to deal with? Yes, it does. If I look out for the worst, that means it won't hurt so much when the inevitable comes.
