The Challenge
For the millionth time I remember why I’m doing this. Personal satisfaction. Not good enough for most people, but good enough for me. I look up. The faint figure of someone else greets me. I’m still stuck on the cargo ropes. The other person & I started at the same time yet they are 5 metres ahead of me. Perspiration gathered through me & I felt a surge of strength. The butterflies in my stomach disappeared. Right then I knew I could do it. The harness I was wearing suddenly felt looser, & I found myself catching up. I went past the “Challenging Cargo”, the “Luckless Logs” & the “Ruthless Rock Climbing”. When I finally reached the top, I felt like I was on the top of the world.
