The Light of My Life.

Zing zing. Two more notifications. I flip-up my phone, staring at the blue, artificial light. The Monday after prom leads to a photo album's worth of posts. I sit in awe. Double tap and write “get it girl”, or “so cute” on every post. My friendships extend no further than these interactions. My mom pleads with me to go outside; get some sun. But the sun doesn’t entice me like the screen in my hand. As I scroll, my stomach feels empty. I don't want to get up. So consumed in others' lives that I don't want to live mine anymore. Too busy watching others' memories to create my own.
