The dejected sun peeks out from behind the redwood trees, ever so slowly sinking towards the bottom of the mountains. It bids us farewell for the day. Crunch, crunch, crunch, we hear the leaves under our feet. Insects scurry under the leaves, in a hurry to get home. Hidden squirrels are chattering away. High above, eagles scream at each other; parents yelling at their kids to come home for the night. Darkness stalks the light, a silent and stealthy predator creeping up on its prey. We are transported to a whole new world. All the colorful, daytime creatures are replaced by their fellow night counterparts. The owls hoot, telling each other to wake up. The crickets begin their daily orchestra, their noise nearly drowning out everyone. They are the night roosters. A nighthawk soaring above spots its dinner far below. It swoops, with its claws outstretched, desperate not to go hungry tonight. The trees get a wardrobe makeover; putting on their menacing, ominous masks. The evil side of the woods awakens and blooms. The forest is reborn.

For this set piece, I tried using the skills anthropomorphism and personification. I like this piece because of the interesting wording I chose and some unique metaphors I put in it.
