Inequality
There was a boy who was out of the ordinary. He walked with a limp, was short, and would keep stuttering and lost track of his words easily. The boy had no friends, and no one would talk to him. The boy would always be made fun of by the others, and only got in trouble just to get someone's attention. He always felt guilty for the things he has done, and just wanted someone who would talk to him. The boy thought to himself, “I wish someone would actually talk to me and see who I am on the inside, not my outside self.” He limped over to someone and asked, “H..hu..h..hey! How ya d..d..ddoing?” “Go away loser, no one wants to be friends with someone like you” he replied. The boy limped away, tears were racing down his cheek, the trail of his tears creating a river.

When I was at a summer camp when I was 7, I noticed this person who was getting teased by other people. He was very short, couldn’t talk well, and walked with a limp all the time. I shrugged and left thinking they were just playfully teasing each other. 15 minutes later, I saw that same kid crying, and I came to realise that they weren’t friends. So based on that, I wrote this set piece. I also wanted to work on character building, because I thought that was something I could improve. I like this piece because I was able to build a character with including dialogue, feelings, and thoughts.
