A dark and deep ocean. Beautiful. Back in the day of our nation's second president, I was named after his wife; Abigail. A women of thoughtful power. It’s known to the Hebrews as “father’s joy,” which is not far from the truth.

A few centuries later we find Elizabeth Taylor, who coined my middle name. The two were fused together to create a gem; Abigail Elizabeth. Sounds like royalty. Hence the emerald green accent, but with an elegant first name must come a middle. Elizabeth.

Now we travel further to find the very different nickname to my full name. Abbey comes with a light sky blue freeze and the airyness of a large open park framed with golden trees. I go by Abbey for now, but soon I will have no choice but to embrace that emerald snair.

Don’t get me wrong—I don’t hate my full name. It’s something old yet something new. It has always been with me, a small green stone in my pocket that soon I will wear loud and proud upon a necklace for everyone to see.

Born and raised on this, I can’t change it now. For what purpose? Even if it was the ugliest name in the world, I couldn't trade it. Till death do us part. My name is mine. I embrace the depth. I embrace the dark. I embrace the poise. I embrace it for the beautiful meaning behind it. As I had that beautiful piece of earth close to me I see my reflection, my name. After all, who would want an empty name?
