Blue Lights
I color the picture of the panda eating bamboo. I scribble and go outside the lines. I stick it on the fridge as my mom kisses my forehead. My mom prepares the table as my brother comes down and sits at the table. My mom sits as I see another bruise from the monster. I don't say anything because she’ll get upset. The Monster puts bruises on my mother.
I hear the car door shut as I try to escape the monster’s abuse. I peek my head out of the pantry and see the monster striking my mother. I hear my mother crying and yelling in agony as the monster kicks her into the basement. I close the pantry door and run down to the basement. My feet hit each of the stairs repeatedly. I feel my torso being thrown onto the cold tile in the kitchen; as Ash tries to save my mother. I walk onto the stairs as they creak giving away my identity. I see the monster as he beats my Ash grinning. A loud voice screams “ STOP” I grab the gun in the corner and grip it harder as the monster yells “ You won't do it.” I close my eyes and shoot four random shots. I open my eyes as my feet are covered in blood. A wet substance falls on my face as silence falls over the basement. My eyes blink repeatedly as my mother runs to the monster trying to wake him.
The blue lights hit my wall repeatedly. We roll the body into the blanket and leave the body there. They bang on my door as my mother answers the door. I go change my clothes as they ask for my brother as I come downstairs. They are the police. One has a beard and kinda looks stren. The other one is young and he demands my brother. I go upstairs and tell the police are here as he hands me a gun and tells me to burn the body but dump the gun in the lake across from the park. I tuck it in my shirt and go downstairs. I see them heading for the basement as my Ash comes downstairs and grabs their attention. They ask about gunshots in the area and we act like everything is normal. They leave as my mother and I finish the demands of my brother. We drag the monster up the stairs and start the fire. We make sure the fire is to its full potential. We here another bang on the door as I open the door. It's another policeman just one this time as he asks if i'll come down to the station. I oblige to him as he opens the police car door. The blue lights still blaring as my eyes get lighter and lighter. The policeman wakes me up as a billion questions go through my mind like,What if Ash snitched on me? It was him all along. They handcuff me to the table as a detective comes in and starts questioning me about my the monster. The monster is my stepfather and he doesn't deserve my mother or our family. He hits my mother and my brother all of the times. He takes our money and wastes it on drugs. My mind thinks these thoughts as the detective ask me questions about him missing I simply answer I don't know. They look at me and pressure me to answer the questions. I don't answer I stare at them as they bang on the desk. They let me go as my mom and brother wait outside for me.
We get into the car and it is dead silent. My mother cries as she drives home. We go into the house and go to the basement. I step in a pile of blood. The scene replaying in my head. I get the mop and start cleaning up the mess. I cry as my tears fall out of my eyes. My mother scrubs the walls with bleach. The floors stained with the blood of a monster. I go outside as Ash makes sure the body and gun are nonexistent. He hugs me as we evolve into the monsters that the monster has created. I cry as I bury my face into his chest and we walk into the house. The blue lights seem to disappear and there is peace and silence.
