Just Grandma and Me
She stopped dead in her tracks. To the sound of silence. Jeremy didn't know where to go he didn’t know where to point his grandmother to. He didn't know if she would be okay. He didn’t know whether to step forward or take a step back. He didn’t know how to comfort her.
It was December 26, Jeremy’s birthday or as most of us know it the day after Christmas. Jeremy was alone, no friends to talk to no family to spend his day with, he was alone in his very small and dark room. He was preparing himself for fun activities in the snow and sleigh rides with his family, except that his only family is his grandparents. Unfortunately a few months previously Jeremys grandfather had passed away. This had lead Jeremy's grandmother to constantly stay in her room day and night, night and day. Jeremy had many decisions to make all which took place in school.
It was the following monday and Jeremy was not ready to go back to school as for his grandmother didn't make him a lunch and he had no time to catch up on his book for school. He was running late worrying about all his school responsibilities. As he reaches school he was prepared to complete his day.
After school he was so hungry because he had not eaten all day. So Jeremy had ran all the way to his house not stopping a single step along the way, he greeted his grandmother with hugs and kisses and reminded her how much he loves her. “Grandmother I would like you to know that no matter what I love you and grandpa is watching over our every move.”
“Oh Jeremy, I love you so dearly I will never stop loving you dear boy.” She told me. Those words stuck around my heart like a great old big bear hug. Life was hard without my grandpa he was like a father to me as for my real father had died when I was young and I had never met my mother as for that when I was only one year old she took off.
I walked quickly over to the pantry and grabbed a bag of chips. I don’t know how fast I eat them I just know that in one minute the bag was empty, someone must had stuck their had in it and taken all my chips.
It was later that day and my grandma was tucking me away in my bed so I can sleep and get ready for the next day. These were my struggles everyday being in middle school. Just grandma and me and that’s all I need.
