I woke up to the sun-shining in through the slightest, crack in my curtains. I eventually managed to get out of bed, and I walked toward the window to open it and the curtains. For a minute I just stood at the window admiring how beautiful it was. I heard the birds chirping, I saw the baby blue colored sky with not a cloud in sight, I saw my neighbors’ kids outside riding on their bikes, and I felt the breeze of the nice warm summer’s air. The weather was so magnificent, I decided that I would leave the house to enjoy it. I decided that I would take a trip to the short-pump town center mall. I didn’t want to go alone, so I texted my friends to see if they would accompany me. Four of them agreed we would meet there.

Before I could leave the house I needed to get permission from my mom. “Mom! Mooooooom!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. Of course she didn’t answer me, so I had to walk all the way to her room. When I arrived I noticed she wasn’t even in there. Next, I walked back down the hallway and down the stairs. “Mom! Where are you,” I said. “I’m in the kitchen making breakfast,” my mom said.  As I approached the kitchen I heard the sizzling of bacon in the pan. When I finally arrived I saw that she had made a big, beautiful breakfast. I saw a tower of golden fluffy blueberry pancakes with syrup drizzled on the top, a plate of sunny-side up eggs, a container full of freshly squeezed orange juice, a big bowl of fruit, a bowl of apple cinnamon flavored oatmeal, and much more.

After my mom finished cooking we both sat down at the dining room table to devour the delicious meal that she had cooked. As I began to dig in, my mom had stopped me. “Aren’t you forgetting something young lady,” my mom said. “Oh. I almost forgot” I said. She stopped me because she wanted me to say grace. “God is great, god is good, thank you for the nutritions and blessings you put uponed us father god, please bless the food provided for us father god, thank you. Amen,” we said simultaneously. Then we began to demolish the breakfast. With every bite I took it felt as if my tastes buds were dancing, and there was a party going on in my belly. After I was done I washed it down with a nice cold cup full of ice-cubes and freshly squeezed orange juice.

After we were finished with everything we both got up to clean up the messy kitchen. I began washing all of the dirty dishes, and my mom was wiping down the counter and stove tops.

“Mom it’s such a beautiful day outside and I was wondering if I could I go to the mall with my friends.”

“As long as you take your little sister you can go.”

“But, mooooom why does she have to go.”

“If you still want to go I advise you to stop talking back and take your sister with you like I told you to do.”

When I finished washing the dishes, drying them, and putting them up I stormed out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I texted my friends and told them that my sister would be coming with us. They were fine with her accompanying us and they didn’t mind.

I walked into my sister’s room. “Naysia get ready to go to the mall because mom said you have to come with me. And don’t take all day.” After I left her room, I walked to my room to get ready to leave. I connected my phone to the bluetooth speaker to play music, and I began to search for my clothes. After I found my outfit for the day, I went into the bathroom, with the speaker, to take a shower. As soon as I get into the shower I hear, “Bang! Bang! Bang! Hurry up I need to brush my teeth and fix my hair!” my sister shouted.

“ I just got into the shower use mom’s bathroom!” I respond.

“ My toothbrush isn’t in her bathroom it’s in this one. And if I wanted to use her bathroom I would have went there instead!

“Both of you better stop yelling I’m on the phone!” my mom interjects.

We both got instantly quiet. I guess she walked away because I didn’t hear her any more, or I might just couldn’t hear her over the music.

I got out of the shower, and had water droplets dripping down off of me. I looked around, and realized that I had forgotten to grab my towel off of the bed.

“Naysia! Naysia! Naysia!”

“What do you want!” She yelled back.

“ I forgot my towel on the bed. May you please bring it to me.”

“Why would I get your towel for you when you were just being rude towards me?”

“I’m sorry may you please just get it for me. I’m freezing cold.”

“Okay!”

She handed me my towel, and I walked to me room to finish getting ready. Twenty minutes later we all were finally ready to leave and travel to the mall.

When we got there, my friends were just arriving as well. We got there around three o’clock. Before my mom left, she told us she would be coming to pick us up at around five o'clock. When we entered the mall, we saw that it was very crowded. We had made a plan to which stores we would go to. First, we went to my favorite store Bath & Body Works. When we walked in we smelled numerous aromas coming from all directions of the store. We bought lots of lotion, perfumes, and hand sanitizers. Next, we were heading to forever21 when my little sister saw something she thought she couldn’t live without. “Oh my god, Lisha can you please get that for me.” It was a big, pink teddy bear that had its own clothes to dress it up. I told her that I’ll think about it and we might get it before we leave. She crossed her arms, pouted, and said “You always say that and never get it.” I told her to come on, and this time I really was going to get it for her. Then, we went into Forever21.

After we went to a couple of other stores. We began to get tired and hungry with all of the walking. We decided we would head to the food court to find something to eat. As we were approaching the food court I started smelling so many delicious things. I saw people handing out samples, so of course I had to eat them. After trying them, I thought about ordering from their restaurant. I decided to just go to Wendy’s to get a four for four meal deal. While my friends went to different places to order something to eat. I started to order my food when my sister started whining, “I don’t want any Wendy’s”. I replied, “Then what do you want to eat?”

“ I don’t know”

“What do you have the appetite for?”

“I want some french fries”

“Okay so they have fries here”

“I know, but I don’t want it”

“Ok, well look around and see what you want”

“Okay how about Burger King, no, Taco Bell, no, I want chick fil a”

“Ok I’ll order this then we will go over there”

I ordered my food, and when I turned around I didn’t see my sister. I looked all around the area where I was standing, but there was so many people I couldn’t see if she was around. I began to shout her name, “Naysia! Naysia! Naysia where are you?” I began hyperventilating. My friends ran over to me, and saw the panicked expression on my face. “Are you okay? Where's your sister?” I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. They said calm down, and take deep breaths. One of my friends said, “Breath in,” I inhaled, “Breath out,” I exhaled. Finally, I took a big gulp, and told them what happened. “I ordered my food, and when I turned around I didn’t see her anymore”. We began to search everywhere for her.

I started to think the worst. “What if someone took her? What if I couldn’t find her?”

“Stop thinking the worst you have to be optimistic,” my friend said.

“Ring! Ring! Ring!” We all looked at each other to see who’s phone was ringing, and it was mine. I prayed that it wasn’t my mother, but of course it was her. I had to answer the phone, or I was going to get in trouble for not answering when she called.

“Hello,” I said.

“I’m on my way to get you and your sister. I should be there in about thirty-five to forty minutes, so be ready,” my mom said.

At that moment my heart dropped down to my feet. “Okay. We will.” Then she hung up. I told my friends that we had to hurry up, and we only had about thirty-five minutes before my mom got there. At this point my heart was ready to pound out of my chest, and my life flashed before my eyes. I knew if I didn’t leave the mall with my sister neither one of us would be returning home today. We started to search around the food court, and we didn’t find her. Next, we started to retrace our steps to see if she went back to places that we had already been. We didn’t find her, so we went to find security to ask if they had seen her. Unfortunately, they hadn’t. I started thinking about everything we had done while we were there.

“Oh my god! I can’t believe that I didn’t think about it earlier,” I said.

“Do y'all remember where that store was when my sister saw that teddy bear she just had to have?” I asked cheerfully.

“Yeah. It was near Forever21,” one of my friends said.

I sprinted over to the store hoping and praying that she was there unharmed. When I arrived, I didn’t see her through the window. I began searching around the store, but I didn’t see her. I decided to just ask one of the staff members have they seen her.

“Have you seen this little girl in here,” I said while showing them a picture I had of her on my phone.

“Yes. One of my co-workers took her to security,” the lady at the register said.

All of a sudden I heard someone talking over the intercom “Talisha Terry your sister is at the security office, I repeat Talisha Terry your sister is at the security office.”

I asked the lady where the security office was, and I sprinted there. When I got there, I saw my friends walking over towards the office. I knocked on the door, then went inside. I saw my sister sitting down in the chair. I picked her up, squeezed her so tight that she started to turn blue, and swung her around.

I put her down and said, “Thank god you’re okay. And why did you walk away, and didn’t say anything? What If something bad happened to you?”

She said, “But nothing happened to me.”

I didn’t pay her any attention I was just glad that she was okay. “We might not get along all of the time, but I love you soooo much. I don’t know what I would do without you.” I began to give her another hug.

“Okay. Okay. I love you too, but you don’t have to keep hugging me,” she said trying  to push me away.

“Okay it’s time to go mom is on her way.”

We walked to the parking lot, and when we got out there my mom was already there. I told my friends bye and we left to go home. On the way home my mom asked, “Did y'all enjoy yourselves.” I wasn’t going to tell her that I lost my sister in the mall, so I just said “Yeah.” My sister said, “I saw this teddy bear I really wanted, and Lisha said she might get it for me but she didn’t.” I thought to myself that she just put me through all of that, and she is still talking about that bear.
