Jay had been talking about Daisy ever since he lost her to Tom. It was late at night at Nick’s house when Gatsby submitted to his own thoughts just thinking about how he could’ve changed everything had he not went into the army. Nick comforted him by allowing Jay to stay till the morning simply because he feared he would take his life over Daisy. “I’ll get her back…” Gatsby murmured with tears in his eyes.

“What do you mean by that?” Nick said as he sat next to him

“Tomorrow! I want you to call her down here by tomorrow”

Nick replied quickly with a, “Sure, yeah I’ll call her right now.” he just wanted Gatsby to calm down and was willing to satisfy his desire to assure that he’d never be this upset again.

Nick had never seen somebody so desperate over one girl, it was a whole new experience where it seemed as if there was only one way out compelled to watch a friend in agony. Daisy sounded confused over the phone, but was ready to come by at 3:00pm sharp. By early morning, Nick began his normal morning routine and noticed that Gatsby had been missing from the couch. Searching all the bedrooms while shouting his name he was interrupted with a knock at the door. Opening the door Nick was expecting only Gatsby but it was least twenty butlers each carrying a whole bundle of daisy flowers that filled the entire living in a matter of seconds. At the end of the line was Gatsby in a full yellow and white suit matching with other daisy’s in the room. Before Nick had time to question him about all this, Daisy's car comes rolling in. Gatsby gets startled and

runs back into the house. So many thoughts and questions are popping inside of Nick's brain he stands in confusion with a perplexed look on his face.

“Thank you.” Daisy says to the butler as she is helped out of the car. Nick approaches her and is greeted with,

“Explain to me why you called me down here again?” Nick hugs her as if she wasn’t even talking

“Huh? Oh, well there is a surprise for you inside, and I think you’ll love it.”

“Oh yeah? Well it takes a lot to -” She’s left in awe as the entire living room settled all of her surroundings.

“This-this is wonderful. Did you do this all for me?” Daisy give Nick another hug, but even tighter this time.

“Not me, Gatsby.” Daisy widened her eyes, standing behind her was Jay Gatsby in one of Nick’s suits wiping away a drip of sweat with one of his handkerchiefs.   🝔

Credit: A work of fanfiction inspired by Gatsby in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Rationale: I chose the scene where Gatsby and Daisy meet after 22 years because if Gatsby actually succeeded in stealing her away from Tom, how quickly the book would have ended, but also that Gatsby’s fate was sealed a long time ago. He would have been killed whether he stole Daisy or took the blame for her in the murder of Myrtle.
