“Mhmmm Lauren stop it. Were gonna be late to class.” I mumbled into her hair. “Since when have you ever cared about being late to class?” She replied in an unbelieving tone. “Touché” I said creating a trail of kisses down her neck.
“Mr. Ault! Ms. Mendoza! Stop sucking faces and get to your classes. NOW” my history teacher Ms. Garrett screamed. Sighing, I got up from my place on the concrete floor and walked toward the front door.
2 minutes away from my Chemistry class, I saw Sarah James, possibly the ugliest junior in the entire school. But, what I saw wasn’t ugly, it was incredible. She looked like the perfect tool, a result of the finest genetics.
I must’ve been standing there for a long time, because once she spotted me, she turned around and walked away. I knew that if I passed up the opportunity to take that little specimen on a date, I would regret it the rest of my life. So, naturally, I screamed after her. “Sarah! Hey wait up.” Running toward her, she rolled her eyes at me and kept walking. I finally caught up with her outside of her AP Calculus class, and before she entered, I grabbed her arm and spun her around.
“Sarah. Why’d you ignore me? I wanted to ask you a question.” I huffed. I must’ve run across the school. This thing better be worth my time.
“Why do you suddenly want to talk to me? Yesterday you sabotaged my lunch to blow up on me.” She replied in a cold voice. God, she’s annoying. But a beautiful instrument that I would love to play. “Okay so yes, yesterday I did hate you. But that was because you were uglier than my grandma, and she’s covered in wrinkles. But today, you’re beautiful. Prettier than the training equipment we use in gym, and I want to kiss you so badly. Can I?” I asked, knowing in my head that even if she said no, I would kiss her. I mean, she has no right to decide what I can or cannot do. If I wanted, I could kiss her. “No. You cannot kiss me.” She responded with a role of the eyes. I sighed.
Leaning in, I closed my eyes and prepared for the kiss. Right as I was about to connect my lips to hers, she retracted and slapped me across the face.
Shocked, I opened my eyes and glared at her. Nobody, scratch that, nothing, has the right to slap me. Especially not a tall gangly thing known as Sarah James. She is lucky that I’m interested in her and am willing to kiss her.
“How dare you!” I screamed, lifting my hand to make contact with her cheek. Looking her dead in the eyes, I said loud and clear, “you are going to listen to me and do whatever I say. You have no right to tell me I cannot kiss you let alone slap me. From now on you are my girlfriend and you will obey all my commands. Anything I tell you to do, you must do. If you disobey me, I will hurt you. Understood?” I said with an angry look on my face.
Losing her smirk, Sarah quivered under my authority. Serves her right. The stupid gadget doesn’t understand that she is just a pawn in this game of chess. “Understood.” She whispered, looking at the ground and avoiding eye contact. Finally, we have an understanding.
“Good. Then we won’t have a problem here. Let’s go. I don’t want you to slow me down. If you do, then you just become baggage, and I have to get rid of you and find another girlfriend.” I hissed while walking toward the cafeteria. It was almost lunchtime and I didn’t need anybody to see me with this resource. She may be my girlfriend, but nobody likes her, and I’m not ruining my image over an expendable.
Walking into the cafeteria, I quickly disappeared into the crowd, making sure that the appliance is no longer near me. Once I felt secure with the crowd, I quickly moved toward my table: the popular table. As I sat down, I took a deep breath and loosened my muscles I didn’t know I had tightened. That little puppet is really taking a toll on me.
Twenty minutes later, the entire cafeteria gets quiet. Confused, I look around to see Sarah standing behind me. Enraged, I stand up and stare her down. That little creature thinks she can outsmart me. Hah. No way is that happening. She can try all she wants, but she will never turn everybody against me.
Fuming, I grab her arm and start to walk away. Before I can go anywhere though, Lauren grabs my other arm and stops me. She turns me around and wraps her arms around my waist. “Cody, who is this? And why does she think she can come over here and talk to us?” Lauren cooed in a gentle voice only I could recognize as hate.
“I don’t know who this is. She came up to me when I was walking to Chemistry and tried to kiss me. I don’t know who she is, but I would love to use this instrument to do my homework. In fact, she can do everybody’s homework. Right creature?” I insisted.
Sarah looked at me like she was about to cry. Actually, I think she was. Ten seconds passed as Lauren stared at Sarah and Sarah looked back between Lauren, the whole crowd, and me. Nobody said a word, keeping quiet for the sake of their reputation.
Finally, Sarah looked up at me, making eye contact. She pleaded with her eyes for me to defend her. Yea. Right. Like I was going to defend that little tool. She betrayed me in a matter of 30 minutes. She was completely on her own.
I gave her a look of fake regret, not really caring what people would think about her. She looked down once more and let the tears flow. Like seriously, it was like the Titanic had sunk in this room. Looking around once more, she bawled her eyes out and ran out the door.
After that little incident, everybody went about their normal business. Nobody mentioned Sarah again and she didn’t show up to school for the next couple weeks.
About 2 weeks after the event in the cafeteria, I was at home setting up for the after game homecoming party when I heard a knock at the door. Setting down the drinks, I walked up to the door, opening it to see the police standing there. “Hello Mr. Ault. We have a warrant for your arrest.” Chief of Police Harrison Davis spoke.
“For what Officer? What have I done?” I replied, confused. “17 year old Sarah James was found brutally murdered in the woods 2 days ago. Evidence from the crime scene matched your fingerprints. Seeing as you have no alibi on the night of October 24, we have no choice but to arrest you. Personally, I feel that the instrument committed suicide and is blaming you for her death. But, since there is no other evidence, and you are the only suspect, we have to arrest you. Please turn around and put your hands behind your back.” Officer Davis concluded.
I sighed, turning around and putting my hands behind my back. “You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney if you can't afford one, one will be appointed to you.” I rolled my eyes, the number of times I have heard that quote. Somebody from my family is always getting arrested. Unfortunately, now it’s me.

It’s been two months since I was arrested. My trial was yesterday. Even with the best lawyers on my side, they still found me guilty. So, now I have to sit in a jail cell for the rest of my life. That’s right. I got a life sentence without any possibility of parole. This is complete c---.

Being in the jail cell for a month now and I’m already dying. And I’m seeing things. Last night, I could’ve swore I saw Sarah looking down at me from the ceiling.
Cody. Cody. Cody. You caused my death. Your lawyers were wrong. Lauren found me after school that day and murdered me in cold blood. You are to blame for this. And now that you have gotten what you deserved, you will spend the rest of your life in prison. I shall haunt you everyday and you shall obey my every command. Anything I tell you to do, you must do. If you disobey me, I will hurt you. Understood?
Shivering, I looked all around for the sight of the source, but to no luck. I was right, Sarah was haunting me. And she would haunt me for the rest of my life… C---.

This is a satire that we had to write in English this year. My topic was women being objectifyed. The project was based on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
