Ferris Wheel
I am hanging at the peak of this frayed ferris wheel,
Where I sit motionless kept in by utopia's seal.
Strange and breathless days since the climb from gray skies,
My company is the illusion that summer never dies.
The end of a dream and a new reality rises,
Yet stuck in between, swinging over reveries and promises.
Did I let silence sift through me like the sand?
I'm terrified of the change in the palm of my hand.
Invisible to the cold carnival and colourless truth,
As the summer sky smears away and the wheel begins to move.
I search the ground for faith in my inconstant someone,
Truth is the broken glass that paints a face on my horizon.
Did I let stillness sift through me on the ground?
I'm terrified of the change in the calm of this round.
Upon my anxious fall into the sky, can it be inside of my to say
All of these private goodbyes to my secrets from yesterday?
I am falling from this frayed ferris wheel,
Where a world of truths has been revealed.
Away from the days of stillness at the peak of gray skies,
Aware of the illusion that summer never lies.
