Everything Here Misses You
The sun beats me before I wake up these days. The sun collects inside my downy comforter and you’re always lingering in my head as I wake from sleep. The ground has unthawed! and I have talked about this a million times over when the ground was white. And now it is green and I am still lonely. It is green and I am still missing you. This love has bottled inside the strongest of glasses this Winter. It is Spring and you are still mine. It is still Us, and now I know at this point it will always be. The pier here misses you. The seagulls miss you. The ground misses you. I see the trees and they appear to be reaching for you. And my arms. But the keep growing without you here. I was once hiding from the snow and now my ankles are stuck in mud. The clouds covered the traces of where you were when you were here, and now that the sun is out, I am seeing you everywhere. I am hoping for you everywhere. Come home.
