Sleep. I need sleep but no can't sleep, must stay awake. My eyes start to drop and blackness enters my eyes. Then I see it, the one thing that continues to torment me. A memory I thought was lost forever but it turns out it wasn't. It all happened when I was 9. 9 year old me was oblivious to the world. When one night I woke up with an itch in my throat only to be solved by water. I trek down the stairs and wander through the hallway to reach my final destination, the kitchen. As I reach the doorframe, I suddenly hear a a clatter followed by shouts of "NO" and "WHY" that was almost comforted by quiet shushing. I stay hidden behind the doorframe. I finally gain the courage to peak my eyes around the corner to see HIM holding a bloody knife that was dripping blood slowly on the floor. I glance down, my eyes widen as my throat lets out a silent scream as I see her lifeless body. I turn to place my back flush against the wall while tears violently cascade down my face and trembling hands struggle to cover my sobs. I take one last glance to her and then take off to a sprint to reach the room I thought could protect me. I try for hours to fall asleep but I can't sleep. Its been 25 years and it won't allow me to sleep.
