Everyone has a vision of what he or she wants in a perfect college. For people who want a true college campus atmosphere, Ohio University is a perfect match. Although it isn’t too close to any major city, there is something for everyone at this University. It is a beautiful and well kept campus even though many of its buildings are older. Money is always a concern, and Ohio University is a mid-priced school, with opportunity for scholarships. OU is well known for its school of journalism. This University offers a safe and beautiful environment while still boasting excellent areas of study, all at a reasonable price.

When I first arrived at Ohio University, it looked just how I always imagined a campus to look. With beautiful architecture and stunning landscape, I was immediately engulfed in the college campus feeling. There are gorgeous houses dating back to the 1800s, which gives the University a small town sentiment. On the contrary, the school is actually on the larger side. With 16,738 undergraduate students currently enrolled, there is a good diversity of people and a lot of opportunity to meet a variety of other students.

OU is located in the quaint college town of Athens, Ohio. It is known for being “in the middle of nowhere,” and this is extremely true. Driving to the campus, I thought I had taken a wrong turn. Road after road there was no civilization in sight; then out of nowhere a beautiful view met my eyes as we approached the campus. Although it is in a world of its own, there is always something to do. The Athena Cinema is a movie theatre located right on campus; also there is a bike path and golf course. The Recreational center is called The Ping Center. It houses a climbing wall, five gymnasiums, cardio workout equipment, and much more.

For Ohio residents the cost per year (including tuition, room and board, and a meal plan) is $19,379 per year. That cost raises to $28,343 per year for out of state students. There are six different school sponsored scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen. With an A.C.T score of 32 or higher, Ohio residents will get their full tuition paid for. With a score of twenty five or higher, prospective students will also get a decent amount of financial aide.

Ohio University is well known for its E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. This Journalism program is among the top journalism schools in the country. State-of-the-art- technology is available to students in the school in order to keep up with the new age of journalism. The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism prides itself on having a curriculum based with a strong liberal arts focus along with professional skills courses. Many people have graduated from this school and have become extremely successful, an example of this is Matt Lauer of The Today Show.

Ohio University is a large school in a small town setting. It is a stunning campus. There are a lot of different activities to participate in and places to go when one has free time. The price is reasonable, and with a good chance to receive financial aide, that price can lower significantly. The E.W. Scripps School Of Journalism is a huge selling point for the school. Any student considering Journalism should consider OU. Overall, Ohio University is a good choice for prospective students who want a true college life.
