A romantic study of sexual practices worldwide claims that Turkey is the world's most promiscuous nation.

According to World Population Review, the average Turk has slept with over 14 persons, placing the country far above the US.

"Cultural norms can have a significant impact on the number of people someone has sex with, so the average number of sexual partners can vary significantly from country to country," the website stated, adding that the statistics were compiled from "multiple third party sources."

Some may be surprised by Turkey's number one ranking, considering that the nation is thought to have traditional views on relationships and sex, and more than 99% of its citizens identify as Muslims.

It was a seductive list, nevertheless, full of surprises. Remarkably low on the list were nations like Brazil and France, which are perceived to have more progressive views on sexuality.

Brazilians are ranked 25th in the world, having bedded an average of nine persons.

France, on the other hand, finished in 29th place and was anything but frivolous. The average number of individuals that residents of that nation have slept with is 8.1.

Australia ranked second on the lusty list after Turkey, with the average Australian having sex with almost 13 individuals in their lifetime.

In third place was neighboring New Zealand, followed by South Africa and Iceland.

According to World Population Review, Americans sleep with an average of 10.7 individuals per night, placing them in 13th place.

We are now level with Canada, who recorded the exact same stat.

The data from the World Population Review aligns with a study conducted by NapLab last year, which similarly discovered that Americans had slept with 10.7 people in their lifetime.

China and India had the lowest rates of promiscuity among the nations on the World Population Review list, with its individuals sleeping with 3.1 and 3.0 people, respectively.
