The Nintendo Switch is a popular new video game console that is sold by Nintendo.

Nintendo Switch is a video game console that was created by a company called Nintendo. Nintendo was established in 1985 and since then, they have been one of the most well-known video game companies. Especially, since their popularity increased more when they released the Nintendo Switch in 2017. According to Business Insider, more than 7 million consumers bought Nintendo Switch in 3 months; this indicates how Nintendo Switch is tremendously popular and sold among the consumers. During the research, it was noticeable that Nintendo tries to reduce waste emission through different approaches. Nintendo tries best to reduce waste, however, since waste is emitted throughout the whole life cycle of Nintendo Switch, it would be hard to get rid of all emitted waste.

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid video game console, consisting of a console unit, a dock, and two Joy-Con controllers. Although it is a hybrid console, Nintendo classifies it as "a home console that you can take with you on the go". Furthermore, the company has stated that the Switch and the Nintendo 3DS are meant to co-exist, considering the 3DS as an entry-level product for younger players.

The Nintendo Switch has a big social and economic impact on today’s society.

In response to society's expectations and to pass on a better environment to future generations, Nintendo is not only exercising care with our office environment, but also embarking on various initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our products. These initiatives span the design stage to post-sales repair and support and continue through to recycling.

As a result, the economics behind the revenue generated by console producers has evolved. Companies might sell the consoles at a loss initially to lure customers, gaining market share from competitors. The strategy looks to make up for any lost revenue by selling games and online subscriptions.

The Nintendo Switch uses a new shipping and distribution process that avoids most waste emission left over from the manufacturing process.

We also redesigned the packaging of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, which made it possible to reduce packaging volume by about 18% and usage of paper packaging materials by about 15% compared to previous models. This has allowed us to not only conserve resources but also to improve transportation efficiency.

With regards to the Switch, it said it has taken action to design a more energy and resource efficient product. According to Nintendo's tests, when docked the launch model uses about 12 watts, whilst the current model uses seven. The OLED model is slightly more efficient then the current model, using only six watts, achieving a reduction in power consumption of 50 percent.
