Summary:

After a young boy named Rodger loses his mother to a car crash, he faces other challenges like losing his father to alchohol. He is taken away from home and sent to a school where he meets others facing the same problems. After, returning home his father loses his job and Rodger is forced to support him and his father by dropping out of school to work. Rodger's father faces problems with alcohol again, and gives up on trying to work. His father later dies from his alcohol issue and Steven is left alone and creates bad habits. When all seems lost Rodger tries to kill himself then realizes he has become just like his father.
